  • ABOUT US

    Our History

The Algona Area Chamber of Commerce was officially formed on August 1, 1936.  Previously, the Algona Community Club, formed in 1925, served as an organization dedicated to the betterment and advancement of the community.  Volunteer businessmen worked hard to turn Algona into a prosperous community.  We are proud to say, as a community organization, that we share that commitment today.

With over 260 businesses strong, the dedication shown by our fathers, mothers and grandparents continues today.  Member businesses are categorized by their specific business type.  The Board of Directors selection is representative of those categories and directors are elected by the membership.  Officers are elected by the Board.  Ex-officio members of the Board include City of Algona staff, media and Ambassadors.  This ensures that we perform our responsibility as the voice for community businesses with a well-balanced perspective.  We also have a student representative from each school system to further expand the working relationship between employment and school.

The Algona Area Chamber of Commerce promotes the local business community, helps businesses collaborate, and produces popular programs and events like Leadership Algona, Women Networking Together, Party in the Park, Last Call Before Fall, Autumnfest Craft Show and Band Day Festival.

    Mission

To cultivate economic momentum and community vitality in the Algona area.

We put the GO in Algona!
